Michelin Starred Restaurant in France Laroche’s head chef cooked for Topaz guests (5-9 January, 2011)
Topaz Restaurant, defined with a reputation for “gastronomic boldness” in modern interpretation of classic Ottoman and Mediterranean recipes,  invited well-known internationally chefs around the world during 2007-2008.

Topaz also added its guest chef list well-known michelin star experienced İsmail Yılmaz.

Chef İsmail Yılmaz presented his own creations " Bourgogne region cooking, specially fish, meet, duck liver with wine souces with truffle mushroom." between 5-9 January 2011.

Turkish origin chef İsmail Yılmaz was born in France 1970, after his training in cooking industry in France, he worked with Michelin star chefs, Chef Marc Menau - L'Esperance Restaurant, Chef Fabrice Vitu - Auberge Des Templiers Restaurant, Chef Jean - Luc Barnabet- Jean Luc Barnabet Restaurant, Chef Fabrica Vitu - Table de St. Juste Restaurant. He gained a lot of experience in Bourgogne region cooking and still working as the Chef at Laroche Wine Restaurant - Bar.

At 29th of October Topaz prepared   a “Day of Republic Menu” with the dishes ATATÜRK liked most accompanied unforgettable firework and laser show at the Bosphorus.

Our successful head chef is also first Turkish origin chef who prepared " First Class Degustation Menu" in France - "Michelin starred" Auxerroise Hotel Restaurant Laroche a Chablis  during ten days.

Topaz Hosts World’s Wine Masters

On Saturday night, Topaz hosted nine internationally renowned wine experts – Count John Umberto Salvi, Sarah Abbott, Tim Atkin, Beverley Blanning, Joel Butler, John Downes, Julia Harding, Jonathan Pedley, and Frank Smulders.  The guests were visiting the restaurant as part of their tour of Turkey, organised by Veritas, to taste the country’s best wines.

The dinner brought together globally respected wine experts and gourmet writers alongside Turkish wine producers and columnists. They were treated to a special degustation menu, where Topaz’s signature Ottoman dishes were paired with distinguished Turkish wines, topped with the breathtaking view of the Bosphorus.

 Many of the international guests commented on how “pleasantly surprised” they were with the food and service standards at Topaz. Tim Atkin, the award-winning wine writer and correspondent for The Times, BBC and Observer, informed his Twitter followers that he had, “Just went to a fantastic restaurant in Istanbul called Topaz. One of my best meals of 2010. Learning how to pronounce the red grape [in Turkish].”

Topaz’s owner Kaya Demirer said, “We are very happy to have hosted such prestigious guests and were delighted by the praise they gave to us and Turkish wines. These experts have tasted the best in the world, so for us to receive such compliments shows Turkey is being recognised for its excellent standards.”

Wine Legends Dine at Topaz
Trade association Wines of Turkey (WoT) invited the world’s leading wine writers to tour Turkey and taste the country’s leading wines. Their first stop was a dinner at Topaz on 28 February 2010. The international guests included respected wine authors and experts: Oz Clarke, Tim Atkin, Charles Metcalfe, Caroline Gilby, Stephen Brook, Susan Hulme, and David Furer.WoT , which represents

Turkey’s most established and successful wine producers including Büyülübağ, Doluca, Kavaklıdere, Kayra, and Vinkara, organised the dinner as part of a week-long tour of Turkey. Both the organisation and guests thanked Topaz for the excellent dinner, which provided “an impeccable start to the tour”.

 

Topaz Party the Talk of the Town
Topaz combined its second birthday and New Year celebrations to host one of the best parties of 2009. On 16th December, the city’s rich and famous flocked to Gumussuyu for the special bash, which was sponsored by luxury yacht maker Pershing. The evening started with gourmet treats from the Topaz kitchen, washed down with Sarafin wines. As the night wore on, the DJ and guests, which included a rich mix from the world of Arts, Business, Media and High Society, transformed the fine dining restaurant into a stylish super club complete with a magnificent backdrop of the Bosphorus at night. Not surprisingly, no one was in a rush to get home and the party carried on well into the night.
Degustation menu launched with Wings
Topaz launched its degustation menus in an event sponsored by premier Turkish credit card Wings. The evening saw over 100 distinguished guests drawn from the world of business and media, together with Istanbul’s leading socialites, attend.  A relatively new concept for Turkey, the degustation menu offers diners the chance to sample small portions of Topaz’s signature dishes, complimented by the perfect choice of wines. The restaurant’s in-house master sommelier Alain Würsching was on hand to share his secrets on harmonious choices of food and wine.
The Wings sponsored Degustation Days will continue throughout the Spring, on 19 April, 31 May and 14 June 2009.
Gorgeous Summer Party in Gumussuyu Topaz!
Topaz introduced the new menu, roze wines to the distinguished guest’s appreciation with “ Topaz Summer Party 2009”
Fresh Bosphorus air creeping in the open windows of Topaz, the decoration designed specially for the night, new rose wines accompanying the rich summer menu, the spectacular panorama, the music giving a magic touch to the night and the special guests have left their mark on the night.
La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs enjoy Istanbul fine dining
Topaz tonight hosted the inaugural dinner of La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs tonight as members from around the world gathered for a meeting in Istanbul. This international gastronomic society was founded in 1950 in Paris and is dedicated “to bringing together those who share a mutual interest in cuisine, wine, and fine dining in a spirit of camaraderie”. The fun evening saw the international members including guests from Turkey to enjoy the fine dining experience of Topaz.

Gümüşlük Nostalgia
Topaz launched its monthly fish supper night called ‘Gümüşlük Nostalgia’ with Istanbul’s glittering society in toe. The restaurant washed away the winter blues away with a delicious meal of freshly sourced Dover Sole from the coast of Bodrum. Following last night’s success, Topaz will be repeating the night each month, serving a fresh fish that is currently in season. The name of the night derives from Gümüşlük, a small town in Bodrum where Topaz owner Kaya Demirer owned his first restaurant. Renowned for its great fish dinners, Kaya hopes the monthly fish supper nights will bring a little bit of nostalgia to those in the know..
Topaz’s 1st Birthday
Last night saw 500 guests party the night away at Topaz for the restaurant’s first birthday. Istanbul’s crème de la crème were treated to tasty appetisers from the Topaz kitchen and served limited edition cocktails prepared with Smirnoff Black. Celebrity DJ Suat Ateşdağlı ensured the party kept rocking until the early hours of the morning.
Common Purpose Association Invitation
Common Purpose – the international charitable trust for leadership development – held a dinner to promote the newly created Turkish arm of the organisation. Formed in Britain in 1989 with the support of Anita Roddick, founder of the Body Shop, the organisation now boasts a global network of people from all sections of society including business, the civil service and the government offering a common vision and training. Last night’s dinner brought together supporters for the Turkish operation, which will be formally launched next month.
